Tideland

Terry Gilliam's macabre and surreal fairytale centres on young Jeliza-Rose, the neglected daughter of a couple of strung-out drug addicts (Jeff Bridges and Jennifer Tilly), who copes with her lonely life by escaping into a fantasy world populated by bizarre and eccentric characters. A disturbing, and at times horrific, tale that is not for children, this Canadian-English co-production was nominated for 6 Genie Awards (Canada's Oscars) including Best Art Direction and Best Cinematography. Based on the novel by Mitch Cullin who also has a tiny cameo during a bus scene.
