Pan's Labyrinth

Pan's Labyrinth is Alice in Wonderland for grown-ups, with the horrors of both reality and fantasy blended together into an extraordinary, spellbinding fable. This fanciful and chilling story set against the backdrop of a fascist regime in 1944 rural Spain in which a young girl finds herself caught up in a centuries-old legend that wants her back for keeps. Mexican director Guillermo del Toro ('The Devil's Backbone', 'The Shape of Water') has crafted a visually breath-taking fantasy, loaded with political allegory and poetic menace - and it's definitely not for kids. Well-deserved winner of Best Make Up, Best Art Direction and Best Cinematography Oscars.
