December Bride

Set at the close of the nineteenth century on Ireland's north-east coast this brooding drama charts the fortunes of three single-minded individuals whose stormy relationship is an affront to the narrow morality of stringent presbyterian attitudes. Called a sort of 'Sean de Florette' this exquisitely filmed (by a European cinematographer) movie is another of those rare not-to-be-missed gems. Saskia Reeves debut, (pre-dating 'Close My Eyes'), Donal McCann and Ciaran Hinds.
