The Tiger and the Snow

Roberto Benigni directs and stars in this romantic comedy-drama set at the outbreak of the US invasion of Iraq. Benigni is an Italian poet who meets the woman of his dreams (played by Benigni's real-lie wife, Nicoletta Braschi), only to hear that she has been badly injured in a bombing in Iraq. His attempts to rush to her side are continually thwarted, and when he does finally reach her she is in a coma, in need of medicine the clinic does not have. Cue more rushing around war-torn Baghdad with his friend Fuad (Jean Reno) in search of the drugs that will save her life. Fans of Benigni's manic, naively serio-comic characters will not be disappointed.
