Murder on the Blade?

On New Year's Eve 1997, holiday-makers Olivia Hope and Ben Smart disappeared from the Marlborough Sounds. Five months later, Scott Watson was arrested for their murders, and he is now serving a life sentence. This documentary by investigative broadcaster Keith Hunter states the case for Watson's innocence with an exploration of the 'evidence' and key witnesses stating they believe they were tricked into making an identification. Following the original broadcast on TV1 in November 2003, New Zealanders who believed in Watson's guilt dropped from 59% to 43%.
