Annabelle is the rebellious daughter of a high-powered senator, sent to a Catholic girls school for moral rehabilitation. She forges a friendship with her literature teacher, Simone, who finds the young woman strangely easy to talk to. Annabelle has had relationships with females in the past, though doesn't think of herself as exclusively lesbian, but as she becomes more and more attracted to Simone, she challenges her teacher's ideas of the way romantic love can be defined. But there is a moral taboo at stake here - Annabelle is still, after all, a girl and Simone is her teacher.
