Upper class Victorian Margaret Prior is lost in grief for her late father. After a failed suicide attempt, Margaret escapes her troubles by becoming a 'lady visitor' at Millbank Prison, wherein she tries to connect with the female prisoners. One particular prisoner who intrigues her is Selina Dawes, a young medium whose troubled past brings the two women closer than either thought possible. Adapted from the book by Sarah Waters (Tipping the Velvet, Fingersmith).
