The Beast
AKA 'La Bete'. Passing New Zealand censors for the first time, Walerian Borowcyzyk's official director's cut of his controversial film can finally be seen! The daughter of a wealthy American Cardinal is married off to a French nobleman and on her first night in his castle she has a strange and intense dream of an erotic encounter with a man-beast. Somewhat shocking (and somewhat camp) the film remains a blatant allegory for humans' animalistic sexual behaviour and is filled with black humour as well as bizarre imagery.
