The 1942 assassination of Nazi collaborator Reinhard Heydrich in Prague inspired director/co-writer Fritz Lang to create this fictional account. Brian Donlevy plays the assassin, a Czech freedom fighter who is hidden by the community and must decide whether to give himself up or let the Gestapo continue to round up citizens in their brutal search. This film was made two years before the end of WWII and is a powerfully blatant piece of anti-Nazi cinema from ex-German citizen Lang.
