Black Book

Director Paul Verhoeven covered everything in Hollywood from erotic thrillers to science fiction films, but the return to his native country (and language) proves he can add artful human drama to that list. In the last years of WWII, Jewish singer Rachel is trapped in the Nazi invasion of Holland and her family is murdered. She joins the Dutch Resistance not out of patriotism, but a blinding desire for vengeance that makes her a danger to both sides.
