This thoughtful Stephen King adaptation is drawn from another of the terror master's straight dramas (as 'The Shawshank Redemption' was) and benefits from Kathy Bates detailed performance as the feisty title character. She's a Maine housekeeper accused of murdering her employer and now reluctantly reunited with the estranged daughter (Jennifer Jason Leigh) she hasn't seen for 15 years.
