The Weight of Water
The lives of a 19th-century Norwegian immigrant (Sarah Polley) and a modern-day photographer (Catherine McCormack) become entwined when McCormack becomes obsessed with the bizarre circumstances surrounding a grisly massacre to which Polley was the only survivor. As her investigation continues, McCormack begins to believe that the man executed for the crime may not have been guilty. Director Kathryn Bigelow ("Strange Days") seamlessly weaves the parallel stories of two women separated by time but bound by destiny. Based on the novel by Anita Shreve. With Sean Penn and Elizabeth Hurley.
