Anthony Shaffer's play comes to the screen for the second time in this ambitious remake directed by Kenneth Branagh from a script by Harold Pinter. Michael Caine, who played opposite Laurence Olivier in the 1972 film, takes on Olivier's role as the mystery novelist who engineers a suspense-laden meeting with an unemployed actor (Jude Law, assuming Caine's former role) who has been sleeping with his wife.
