American remake of Kiyoshi Kurosawa's unsettling 2001 shocker transplants the cyber-creepies to Columbus, Ohio, where Mattie Webber (Kristen Bell) witnesses her boyfriend's mysterious suicide, only to be confronted by his phantasmagoric reincarnation on the World Wide Web. Soon, a spectral outbreak plagues electronic appliances everywhere, leading Mattie and her tech-savvy friends to try and prevent a viral apocalypse.
