A History of Flight

Tom Baker narrates the story of aviation from its pioneering days at the start of the 20th century through to a celebration of its achievement 100 years later. With archive footage that documents the earliest experiments with flight (as well as some of the failures!), the programme moves on to chronicle the rise in importance of air power during two World Wars. The programme is brought up to date with a look at the latest developments in aviation including rockets and space shuttles.
