Night

Australian visual artist Lawrence Johnston's nonfiction work "Night" offers an extended meditation on the post-daylight hours. The picture begins as a poetic essay comprised exclusively of nocturnal imagery of rural and urban Australian landscapes, from Ayers Rock to the Sydney Harbour bridge, lightning storms crisscrossing the outback after dark to city-posited fireworks. Johnston then moves into a series of candid monologues from Aussies about what the nighttime means to each of them, personally.
