Marcos is the chauffeur of a general with a secret that only he and his wife know - they kidnapped a baby for ransom, and the child died in their care. Meanwhile the general's daughter Ana also has a secret - she amuses herself by turning tricks as a high class prostitute. The two confide in one another, but as the police draw ever closer, Marcos must decide how he can redeem himself. Cast with non-professionals, this poetically confrontational and sexually explicit film from Mexico's newest auteur, Carlos Reygadas ('Japon', 'Silent Light'), challenges the hypocrisy of Mexico's social structure.
