My Winnipeg

Visionary Canadian filmmaker Guy Maddin pays tribute to his beloved hometown with this goodbye letter and self-described 'docu-fantasia' that is equal parts transcendental rumination, historical chronicle and personal portrait. Winding its way through the birthplace of personal mythologies, attempting to understand the nature of memory, this deranged post-Freudian proletarian fantasy, blends local myth with the traumas of youth. A weird, beautiful, surreal and funny reinvention of childhood; winner of Best Canadian Feature at the Toronto Film Festival.
