Pixar hit the box office jackpot with the charming exploits of a little robot who got left behind when Earth became uninhabitable. His job? Pick up the rubbish. After hundreds of years of doing just that, he is found by EVE, a sleek robot sent to find out if the human population can come back yet. And thanks to WALL-E, it looks like maybe they can; but when EVE takes off back into space, WALL-E can't bear the thought of being left alone again and follows her out into the universe on the adventure of a lifetime. Clever, heart-warming, funny, and despite the lack of dialogue, loaded with subtext and meaning, this gem of a film works on so many levels.
