The Rebel

Vietnam's most expensive movie to date is an historical martial arts drama set during the French occupation of the 1920s. Johnny Ngyuen is part of an elite squad of fighters hired by the Colonials to help flush out rebels; but when he captures the daughter of an infamous rebel leader and sees her commitment to the cause, he begins to have a change of heart. A richly photographed snapshot of Vietnam under foreign rule, with plenty of slickly choreographed action.
