The Quiet American

Set in early 1950s Vietnam, as French involvement in the ongoing civil war was winding down and before America's entry, director Phillip Noyce's thoughtful filming of Graham Greene's novel stars Michael Caine as a cynical British reporter stationed in Saigon and Brendan Fraser as the seemingly naive U.S. aid worker who comes between Caine and his Vietnamese mistress.
