The Day the Earth Stood Still
Keanu Reeves is apparently well-cast in the role of an emotionally bereft and expressionless alien from another planet in this remake of the 1951 classic. Jennifer Connelly is the scientist plucked from her daily existence to help the government figure out what to do with a massive alien craft that has landed in Central Park; but as the situation begins to look hostile, she absconds with the alien liaison until things calm down. With a respectful nod to its predecessor, this ratchets up the special effects, and re-tunes the plot for today's environmental crises. Jaden Smith, John Cleese and Kathy Bates also star.
