Edward Norton plays an honest cop, assigned to investigate the precinct run by his potentially corrupt older brother. Director Gavin O'Connor co-wrote the script with Joe Carnahan ('Narc'), and as the son of a New York policeman, brings a certain insider understanding of cops and cop families. Colin Farrell co-stars as the brother's best friend and the possible kingpin behind much of the illegal activity, with Jon Voight stepping in as the family patriarch. The storyline may seem familiar, but the strong cast are imminently watchable. Originally slated to shoot in 2001, it was deemed in poor taste to infer NYPD corruption in the aftermath of 9/11.
