The Departed
Scorsese's dazzling remake of Hong Kong flick 'Infernal Affiars' packs a powerful punch and a highly-charged ensemble led by Leonardo DiCaprio as a cop undercover in the Irish mob, and Matt Damon as a mobster undercover in the Boston police force. Relentless and brutal, yet still managing to feel character-driven, this is pure Scorsese at his underworld best, earning him a long overdue Best Director Oscar. Lending considerable testosterone to the supporting cast are Martin Sheen, Mark Wahlberg, Alec Baldwin, Ray Winstone, Anthony Anderson and Jack Nicholson in a chilling turn as the ruthless and unforgiving crime boss.
