Growing up in small-town Italy during the '60s and '70s, brothers Accio and Manrico embody and celebrate opposing political stances, but share an impassioned love of the same woman that threatens to drive them to blows. Spanning fifteen tumultuous years in Italy's political history, the film follows the brothers, one a charismatic communist and the other a radical fascist, as they each try to bring about their ideal Italy. Handled with typical Italian passion and whimsy, this political romantic drama was a huge hit at home, nominated for an incredible eleven David di Donatello Awards (the Italian Oscars), and winning five.
