Southern Carolina, 1964. 14-year-old Lily (Dakota Fanning), haunted by the death of her mother, and unable to bear living with her emotionally distant father, runs away with her only friend, their African-American housekeeper, Rosaleen (Jennifer Hudson). Having been beaten for attempting to register to vote, Rosaleen leaves with Lily, on a quest to find her own mother; but instead the pair find the Boatwright sisters, three independent women who earn their living making honey. Adapted from the best-selling novel by Sue Monk Kidd, this moving drama also stars Queen Latifah, Alicia Keyes, Sophie Okonedo and Paul Bettany.
