The compelling true story of the elaborate 1943 plot to assassinate Hitler, hatched within his own ranks, and masterminded by Colonel Claus von Stauffenburg (Tom Cruise) who has become convinced that his Fuhrer's destructive campaign is fuelled by madness. Cruise is uncharacteristically subdued and well supported by a top-notch cast of Brits that includes Kenneth Branagh, Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson, Terence Stamp and Eddie Izzard. Director Bryan Singer ('The Usual Suspects') keeps up the tension, while sticking as close to the known facts as possible, in the ultimate 'what if' story of the 20th century.
