Aka "Pirate Radio". In 1966, a rusty fishing trawler christened Radio Rock floats just outside British territorial waters, broadcasting illicit rock 'n' roll music for the kids, overseen by the slightly daft and elitist Quentin (Bill Nighy). His motley crew of joint-toking, sex-hungry DJs include Nick Frost as a heavyset boob who nevertheless considers himself a hot property; Philip Seymour Hoffman, as an American DJ who aspires to be the first person to drop the F-bomb on British airwaves; and "Flight of the Conchords"' Rhys Darby, as a New Zealander whom nobody likes - the only female member of the group is Felicity, the lesbian cook. Writer/director Richard Curtis switches up his usual boy-girl romance ensemble for a people-music one in this nostalgic, though fictionalised comedy, that also co-stars Rhys Ifans, Kenneth Branagh and Gemma Arterton.
