A parody pastiche of Hollywood's finest films, this musical comedy puts a pop music spin on Gilbert and Sullivan's "The Pirates of Penzance." When plain, shy Mabel (Kristy McNichol) falls for handsome Chris (Chris Atkins), it seems a hopeless fantasy. Her friends are so much more glamorous than she. But on her way to meet them, her boat capsizes and as she slips out of consciousness, her dream of tender romance and high adventure begins... Mabel envisions a colourful pirate crew with a dashing young apprentice named Frederic (Chris Atkins), who leaves the ship to set out on his own. Arriving at a secluded cove, he spots Mabel. They fall instantly and deeply in love. Alas, there are many battles to be fought before their romance can truly blossom. And as swords and hearts clash, Frederic and Mabel's beautiful romance begins to shift from dream to reality...
