Recently released from a mental institution, Charlie (Michael Douglas) is reunited with his estranged teenage daughter, Miranda (Evan Rachel Wood) who is not terribly pleased to have him back. Having decided there is centuries old treasure buried near their lower-middle-class neighbourhood, Charlie sets out on an obsessive quest to find it. Naturally, along the way, parent and child rekindle their long-lost bond in this sweet, low-key comedy, that features stand-out performances from the two leads. Written and directed by newcomer Mike Cahill, it was produced by Alexander Payne ('Sideways').
