Fading Hollywood action star Jefferson Steel (Burt Reynolds) gets talked into doing King Lear in Stratford - not the famous one, but instead a sleepy hamlet in Suffolk where the dedicated amateur theatre group are desperate to save their company with this Shakespearean fundraiser. Reynolds' is no stranger to self-parody and he is more than ably supported by a stellar British ensemble that includes Imelda Staunton, Samantha Bond and Derek Jacobi. Whilst there are no prizes for guessing how this one turns out, it is still a sweetly funny film with a thoroughly watchable cast.
