Fantasia
Walt Disney's eight-part marriage of music and animated images remains an amazing achievement. 'Fantasia' was first conceived as a feature-length vehicle for Mickey Mouse, but his comedic segment - set to Dukas' 'The Sorcerer's Apprentice' - is far from the film's most popular sequence. Fans generally cite the delicacy of various movements from Tchaikovsky's 'The Nutcracker Suite' or the genuine terror inflicted by the dark figure of evil in Mussorgsky's 'Night on Bald Mountain'.
