The Proposal
Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds provide the yuks in this romantic comedy about a no-nonsense career woman (Bullock) who suddenly finds herself on the wrong side of a green card. A native Canadian, she is about to lose her hard-won publishing empire and get kicked back over the northern border. Unless of course she can find herself a willing American spouse. Enter Andrew (Reynolds), her long-suffering assistant whom she browbeats into becoming her fiance. Without breaking any new comedy ground, this still cuts the mustard as an entertaining hour and a half, largely thanks to the engaging leads and support that includes Betty White and Craig T. Nelson.
