Baron Manfred von Richthofen (Matthias Schweighofer) is the most feared and celebrated pilot of the German air force during World War I, eventually racking up a record 80 kills, before being shot down himself at just 25 years of age. This biopic tells the story of the young fighter ace, from his early infatuation with the new-fangled aircraft to his celebrated wartime exploits, and his rejection of the ideology of war. Born into a noble family, Richthofen views flying as an honourable sport, and even when he realises he is being used as a propaganda tool, he goes back to the skies to support his squadron, ultimately never to return. Til Schweiger, Joseph Fiennes and Lena Headey co-star.
