A naive young teacher finds himself in a remote outback school where the 'pupils' are more interested in killing kangaroos and sexual experimentation than higher learning. Based on Kenneth Cook's scathing novel that reveals a menacing, booze-fuelled Australian outback, and the methodical shattering of John Grant's dearly held values that plunge the young teacher deep into degeneracy. The film was so graphic in its original Australian version (the kangaroo hunt is real) that 15 minutes had to be cut before an American distributor would touch it. Out of circulation for years after the negative went missing, Australian producer Anthony Buckley finally found it in Pittsburgh in 2004, in a shipping container marked 'For Destruction'.
