Last Ride

Australian director Glendyn Ivin's feature debut is a beautifully drawn, mood-filled drama describing the troubled relationship between a father and son. The always brilliant Hugo Weaving plays Kev, a hard-boiled ex-con, whose son, Chook, only got to see him fleetingly during his spells out of prison. Now Kev wants to take his son on a cross-country 'adventure'. Based on a novel by Denise Young, Australia's spell-binding scenery provides a dramatic backdrop to a road-trip that balances subtle story-telling with brutal and intense action, flashing back and forward to reveal what has brought them to where they are.
