One of the very best and most popular British TV sitcoms, starring James Bolam as Terry, and Rodney Bewes as Bob, two working-class lads living in the north-east of England in the 1960s. Written by Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais ('Porridge') the witty dialogue and sharp observations of working class Britain made the series an instant hit. Stories focused on the two friends as they dealt with real-life dramas such as cash shortages, the constant pursuit of the opposite sex, their work in an electrical components factory, and their support of a struggling football team. Sadly, only 8 episodes remain from the original 21, due to the BBC's wiping policy; and this collection (despite the title) contains 7 of them. A sequel series ("Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads?") appeared in 1973, and a feature film in 1976.
