'The Spider Woman' (1943) - Adrea Spedding (Gale Sondergaard) makes her social calls accompanied by an unnervingly unsmiling mute child. She is secretly masterminding a devlish insurance racket, preying on the wealthiest men in London by using a dwarf to gain entrance to their homes and leave venomous spiders to do away with them. She also reserves a fiendish fate for Holmes (Basil Rathbone) at the carnival that serves as her lair; Dr Watson (Nigel Bruce) proudly demonstrates his skill at the shooting gallery, unaware that his target, Holmes waits helplessly bound and gagged! 'The Pearl of Death' (1944) - When a pearl with a sinister reputation for causing misfortune to its owners is stolen from a museum by a master criminal due to Sherlock Holmes showing off, he is naturally obliged to find it. Soon, he learns of a series of brutal murders that seemed to have been committed by a monstrous, silently prowling man known only as "The Creeper" (Rondo Hatton) and his sinister boss.
