The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 ( Blu-ray )
Tony Scott directs this remake of the 1974 thriller about a hijacking on the New York subway system. Denzel Washington is subway dispatcher Walter Garber, with an extensive knowledge of the underground system; John Travolta is Ryder, the cunning leader of a well-armed team of hijackers, demanding a huge ransom or they'll start executing passengers. As the tension mounts, Walter scrambles to find a way to save the hostages, but there is one part of Ryder's plan he can't figure out - even if they get the ransom, how will they get out of the tunnels? A satisfying pulp thriller with Scott's trademark stylised visuals, and no let-up on the pace. Luis Guzman, John Turturro and James Gandolfini feature as support.
