Stalingrad - a name forever associated with horrors of war at its most unimaginable and traumatic. This three-part film was conceived and edited by internationally acknowledged documentary film makers S. Dehnhardt, C. Deick and J.Mullner, whose in-depth reports on WWII and the Nazi era confirm their expertise in this domain. In a unique approach, the film describes individual stories, as survivors from both sides describes their harrowing experiences and provide some of the last eyewitness accounts that will ever be recorded. Particularly chilling are excerpts from 8mm films shot by soldiers during the siege. Russian archives opened their doors to the filmmakers, granting them exclusive access to documents and rare footage of Stalingrad. Archival film was digitally restored and scanned in HD, with some colouration of black and white material. Finally, 3-D animation helped recreate the city of Stalingrad and document its destruction in the course of the trilogy.
