To some, organics has been labelled as "fringe farming". To others, organics is the farming method of the future. It wasn't until ten years after 'Country Calendar' had started that we aired our first organic story in 1976. But since then it has been a regular topic and invariably these stories have aroused huge interest with viewers. Over the years we have featured vineyards, sheep and beef farms, dairy farms, and horticultural blocks. And there is another farming method known as "biodynamics". Again, 'Country Calendar' has visited some of these farmers using this method, that is creating huge interest. Here we have selected eleven stories from the 1970s onwards, of farmers throughout New Zealand, who are convinced that organic methods not only work but truly are the way of the future.
