Albert's Memorial

Albert's (Michael Jayston) dying wish to his old comrades in arms, Harry (David Jason) and Frank (David Warner), is to be buried in a meadow where, as young soldiers, the three of them linked up with the Russians during the chaotic encirclement of Berlin in April 1945. It's a crazy idea but life is short, friendship precious and after all, the trio have known each other for more than half a century. The life changing journey allows the men to reminisce and bicker their way across France, and into Germany whilst picking up Vickie (Judith Hoersch), a German hitch-hiker who learns of the dark secret that is still eating at the heart of the men's friendship. Fifty five years after the end of the war, the men are forced to confront painful truths, learn to forgive themselves and honour their friend's request.
