Life, Above All

Based on Allan Stratton's novel "Chanda's Secrets", this moving drama set in South Africa tells the story of young Chanda (Khomotso Manyaka), a child living outside Johannesburg who is forced to sacrifice her own future to care for the members of her family. When she suspects her mother may have AIDS, Chandra comes up against her nation's shameful neglect of citizens afflicted with the illness. The film captures the enduring strength of loyalty and a courage powered by the heart. Directed by South African filmmaker Oliver Schmitz ("Mapantsula").
