The Namesake

Spanning two generations of an Indian immigrant family in New York, Mira Nair's culture clash drama begins as Ashoke (Irfan Khan) and his arranged bride begin their new life in the foreign and snowy climes of New York City. As they struggle to maintain their cultural identity while embracing their new home, they have a son, Gogol (Kal Penn). Born in America, Gogol grows to find his second-generation status brings its own unique challenges. Based on the novel by Jumpa Lahiri.
