Fool for Love

The minimalist, barren landscapes energize the smothering, claustrophobic interiors of Sam Shepard's play in this Robert Altman adaptation. Starring Shepard and Kim Basinger as formerly obsessive lovers whose fragmented, scarred past is mysteriously connected to an old man (Harry Dean Stanton), who hides out in an abandoned motel. Randy Quaid has a small but quietly effective role as Basinger's befuddled gentleman caller.
