Painted Skin
General Wang Sheng (Chen Kun) rescues a beautiful young woman, Xiao Wei (Zhou Xun), from the scene of a battle and takes her into his household, little realising that Xiao Wei is actually a fox spirit who feeds on human hearts and skins to maintain her youth and beauty, and plots to usurp the place of Wang's long-suffering wife Pei Rong (Zhao Wei). The romantic entanglements become increasingly complex and multi-layered as Wang's former boss Pang Yong (Donnie Yen) yearns for Pei Rong, and lizard spirit Xiao Yi(Qi Yuwu) hankers after Xiao Wei. A Hong Kong romantic action thriller fantasy (!), "Painted Skin" is adapted from the classic ghost story by Songling Pu.
