Sound City
Foo Fighters frontman and former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl directs this documentary about Los Angeles' Sound City Studios which specialised in analog recording. Following the closure of the studio in 2011 due to the growing demand for digital recording, "Sound City" celebrates the human element of music as Grohl (who purchased the studio's celebrated analog mixing board) gathers some of rock's greatest artists both to recount classic tales and to create new music exclusively for the film and it's soundtrack. Featuring reminiscences by such Sound City musicians as Neil Young, Paul McCartney, Tom Petty, Stevie Nicks, Lars Ulrich, Rick Rubin, Mick Fleetwood, Trent Reznor, John Fogerty, Frank Black, and many others.
