Testament of Youth

Testament of Youth is a searing story of love, war and remembrance, based on the First World War memoir by Vera Brittain. Vera - irrepressible, intelligent and free-minded - overcomes the prejudices of her family and hometown to win a scholarship to Oxford. With everything to live for, she falls in love with Roland Leighton as they go to pursue their literary dreams. However, the spectre of war looms over them as Roland leaves for the front to fight for King and Country, and Vera volunteers to become a wartime nurse. "(Vikander's) performance is a subtle tour de force of feeling and restraint, made all the more remarkable by the whiplash highs and lows of this true but melodramatic tale." - Washington Post
