The Humphrey Bogart Collection of Films: Across the Pacific / All Through the Night / Bullets or Ballots / Dark Passage

Humphrey Bogart Box Set. 'Across the Pacific' (1942) - When disgraced American military officer Rick Leland (Bogart) boards a Japanese ship, he is apparently willing to turn his back on his country to become a mercenary. On the vessel, Leland meets a mysterious professor named Dr. Lorenz (Sydney Greenstreet) and the beautiful Alberta Marlow (Mary Astor). Soon Lorenz shows an interest in Leland and recruits him for a dangerous mission. As Lorenz pulls Leland into a web of international espionage, the true motives of each man remain unclear. 'All Through the Night' (1942) - When noted gambler Alfred "Gloves" Donahue (Bogart) makes a trip to his local bakery to see why his cheesecake hasn't been delivered, he sees nightclub singer Leda Hamilton (Kaaren Verne) leaving the bakery, and finds that his favourite baker has been murdered. Donahue becomes the prime suspect in the case, so he has to take matters into his own hands to clear his name. Things take a shocking turn when he discovers that a Nazi spy ring may have had a hand in the poor baker's death. 'Bullets or Ballots' (1936) - Upon the murder of an anti-crime advocate, the police turn to former investigating detective Johnny Blake (Edward G. Robinson) for help. Convinced that racketeer Al Kruger (Barton MacLane) arranged the murder, Johnny goes undercover in order to infiltrate Kruger's gang. Using his unsuspecting friend Lee Morgan (Joan Blondell), who runs a numbers racket, Johnny burrows into Kruger's organization while staying one step ahead of suspicious henchman Bugs Fenner (Bogart). 'Dark Passage' (1947) - Vincent Parry (Bogart) has just escaped from prison after being locked up for a crime he did not commit - murdering his wife. On the outside, Vincent finds that his face is betraying him, literally, so he finds a plastic surgery to give him new features. After getting a ride out of town from a stranger, Vincent crosses paths with a young woman (Lauren Bacall) who lets him stay in her apartment while he heals and continues to try and clear his name.
