Black Sunday ( aka The Mask of Satan )

One of the most stylishly filmed black and white horrors of all time, this was Italian horror maestro Mario Bava's official cinematic debut. Loosley adapted from a Nikolai Gogol story, this chilling tale of 17th century vampires stars Barbara Steele as the evil Princess Asa, whose inadvertant revival spells disaster for her innocent descendant (also played by Steele). The perfect accompaniment to a dark and stormy night, this cult horror fully deserves its lofty reputation.
